Train Your Right Arm in the Backswing with This Simple Drill (No Club Needed) 🏌️♂️
Read More…
Recently I posted about how some of the best golfers in the world—like Bryson, Rory, Nelly, Tiger, and more—position their right arm at the top of the backswing. Now, here’s a drill that can help you improve that same structure.
This drill not only helps train your right arm into a more solid position, but it also works on flexibility—especially if you struggle with shoulder mobility.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Get into your golf posture (no club needed).
2. Raise your trail arm in front of you, creating a 90° angle (see photo).
3. Reach your lead hand underneath so the back of your hand rests on the outside of your right arm.
4. Stay in posture and try to make the back of your trail hand “touch the ground” from your perspective—it won’t, but that motion gets you into a better position.
5. Turn your shoulders 90°, keep that right wrist bent back, and stay in posture.
This is a powerful way to build structure in the right arm and replicate the top positions we saw in today’s earlier post. Give it a try and let me know how it feels—this one’s a difference-maker.
